The staff at Apple Tree Academy is taking the H1N1 virus and all other variations of influenza very seriously by practicing good health and hygiene each day. Children are reminded to wash their hands and to cover their mouths with their elbows when sneezing or coughing. In addition, all of our classrooms are routinely sanitized.

We would like for your cooperation in keeping this illness under control, and ask that you keep your child home whenever they exhibit any flu-like symptoms until 24 hours after all symptoms have disappeared. Our standard policy for fevers is that the child must remain at home until they are fever free/Tylenol free for 24 hours.

All of our teachers have attended a seminar a little over a month ago on hand washing and disease prevention. We have also recieved our “Germ Juice” kit yesterday. The “Germ Juice” kit allows us to practice proper hand washing with the children and lets them to see any “germs” they missed under a black light if they do not wash properly.

Thank you,

Karen Werner, Apple Tree Academy Director
